Kola nuts in traditional engagements or weddings represents the family's word for togetherness.

By the old Kola- nut am bound
To break this knot
We're enveloped in; and found
Pleasant, now by tempered words.
Do you think there're not many lords
Needing a lady's hands out?
To break this olden chain
Is naught; but don't want your sin
