These Waters

These Waters

A Poem by TheJordBaker
"

The original part of a series of dystopia-ruled poems.

"
The figure stands metres from the shore.
Lifeless clarity in his eyes reflects the
first moon- jagged and worn.
The second is the only light
until the crucifix behind him ignites.
An ironic effigy over his shoulder;
God has long since walked these waters.
The cross bears its mortal words and
the swash runs red with its blood.
