Prayer

Prayer

A Poem by Blue Ivory

Prayer

I fear You.

Always have.

And so one day, I ran.

I found You in every corner.

There was nowhere I could hide.

Only difference from then and before,

Was that then, I was disconnected from You.

And   once   I   was   “free”,

I   thought,   no   point   in   being   a   nomad.

<                 Might   as   well   pick   a   side.                 >

If   there’re   two   sides  to   pick   from,

And   Yours       was   the       side   I’d   left,

Might   as   well   be   Bad,   now.

I tried my hand at evil things.

Things I never thought I’d do.

I    became   the    Anti-me.

I was lost,

I truly was.

All I did

Was flee.

But how long

Can you live

Pushing away

Your true self?

It goes against the laws of the universe.

I couldn’t help but reach out to You.

I ran in fear.

I’m back.

Will You

Take me?

Author's Note

Blue Ivory
My inspiration was probably Like A Prayer by Madonna. Notice the shapes of the stanzas. The first one's a pyramid. The next two combined form a skull. The last one's an inverted cross.

To "Fear" prayer? My first thoughts were - "Really?"

But then I cast my mind back... and I saw it. You are absolutely right! When we are estranged form our Heavenly Father, we avoid Him, like a child avoids a parent when they don't want to be cuddled or scolded.

You have written something special here! It is insightful and delightful. Thank you.

Sometimes we must become lost, if we are ever to truly understand and appreciate the beauty of finding our way. I hope you have found yours! Be well!

You are very welcome and thank you :)
I like the journey in the poem. We must struggle and lose our ways many times. I like the flow of thoughts leading to the strong ending. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I heard every word... and understood. Nothing else I can say would matter.

This poem is beautiful. And I can relate to it. It's true you can't push your real self away. Eventually it crawls back out and you start rebuilding faith and hope. Job well done in capturing the whole thing. :)
