The Mirror

The Mirror

A Poem by Mark Daniels

Out in the middle of nowhere,
where no human can get by.
there stands a giant mirror,
and to get to it, most men would die.

Its a simple little mirror,
but it has its ancient secrets.
if you manage to survive the trip,
it'll be something you regret.

The mirror has the power,
to turn back time and space.
And it will change some men,
so you cant even recognize their face.

It takes you to your dream world,
where everything is perfect.
but by the end,
the time you owe is up to your neck.

But then the mirror traps you,
and keeps you there for good.
Because you chose eternal happiness,
which no one ever should.

So before I leave the mirror,
I will look into your eyes.
For the happiness you once craved,
shall now be your demise.

Oh a little darkness and morality play here. Nicely written. It sneaks up on you as you're lulled by the rhyme scheme. I like it.
