The Moments

The goodbye you never want to end.

It was then, on a wave's crest before I had to depart,
When we slowed down time and breathed as one,
That each blessed moment was stolen away by the setting sun,
And thrown into the sky with all the colors of my heart.

This is absolutely beautiful --- four lines that say so much. I'm reminded of when I was in high school, and my boyfriend at the time was leaving to go into the Air Force. You painted that moment in words.
