Dark Storm

Dark Storm

A Poem by John Holmes
"

For what is love?

"

Thunder and Fire.

Rumble on and on..

in the ceiling of my head.

your voice cuts through me

like a shrieking wind.

With glass for dust

your eyes pierce me

like the lighting sunders the night sky.

turning my defenses to dust,

like fire renders the Earth ash before it.

brewing, dark and deep.

you dance before me.

destruction at its most… simple.

beautifully.

Your lips call to me,

like the shoreline does to the great tsunami

Your movements

as delicate as falling ash.

your hair,

a dark miasma of cloud and crows.

your heart?

No one knows.

What are you?

You’re the Dark Storm.

and now you come to the shore

the shore of my heart.

and i only hope you will let me see your heart.

if only for the short, brief flare of my life.

I love the flow of this piece! It's full of imaginative words that help paint a picture for me. The word choice in this piece is well done. Good job!

So many strong images in this one... You have a great concept, the idea of wishing to see another's heart, if only for a "brief flare of life". I like the imagery; the idea of a "storm" being likened to love (as well as throwing in the idea of 'crows', which are normally given a "dark rap" in poetry) was nicely done.

Technically:
A little off in the flow in some places, perhaps due to the differences in line length and the fact that it was one long stanza.

Overall...I really enjoyed the read; thought provoking.
