The Monster in the Mirror

The Monster in the Mirror

A Story by Reianna Jewel
"

What do you see when you look in the mirror?

"

I’m face-to-face

with a monster.

It’s green eyes and

twisted smile

mock me each time

I turn my back.

I hate what I

am becoming.

The truth of who

I am scares me,

and I wish it

would go away.

My bitter thoughts

and hateful words

hurt me more than

they might hurt you.

The stranger in front

of you wears my face.

She hides underneath

my skin, oozing out

unknowingly to have her fun.

I know once she takes

over completely I’ll be lost.

But the temptation tortures me,

makes me think I’d be better with

her in control. One day I

might end up just

letting go.
