Once More

Once More

A Poem by DailyWyatt

Our eyes meet just like that first day

Longing begging for the attention of the other

Her face glistens as a small warming smile runs across her cheeks

I approach heart pounding and knees shaking

Wondering if the years have torn us apart more than I had feared

You speak to me no longer as an enemy but as a welcome friend

Laughing about times lost and loves gone

Bridging the gap between our lives with just a few words

Your hand grabs mine as we replay our first date

Relearning all there is to know about you

The day swiftly turns tonight as your presences graces my abode

Hours fly as love flourishes once more in my heart

Screaming for me to make the next move

My hands touch your fair skin once more as I kiss the lips that ran from me so long ago

Your warmth soothes my soul as we fall into a graceful slumber

My bare chest covered in your golden hair as I hold you through the night

And as the sun kisses my cheek the next morn

I awake to find my arms empty

Not a trace of your presence to be found

So as I lie there cold and alone once more

I pray to anyone who would listen

To send me back to that dream

So I can see your beautiful face once more
