A THINKING CAT

A THINKING CAT

A Poem by DIVYA

If I smell the smoke

There must be a fire

If I sense the truth

You must be a liar

If there is some ink

There must be a stain

If you say all is clear

There must be some rain

If there is a tip

There must be a ‘berg

If there is a wave

There must be a surge

 If there is some flesh

There will be a shark

If there is a bush

There must be a lark

If there is some chicken

There must be a roast

If there is some butter

It has to be on toast

If there is some honey

There will be a bee

When something is hidden

It’s much easier to see

If there is a coat

You bet there is a hat

If there is a cat

There’s most certainly a rat

Very well, thank you for asking. I have a couple I'm working on.
Clever entertainment featuring some witty truths.
Pondering cartoon cat about to have a cup o' joe sets the mood, nicely.
Much enjoyed, D!

Thank you for stopping by, Frankie... :)
This is so Seussian I love it, and I love it even more that Eliot makes his way into it too. So funny, so clever, so brilliant. My only critique is that "it has to be on toast" is a tad wordy for the musicality in that line, and as much as I understand the intention, using "must" instead gives the same stress and sentiment.

overall splendid work with this! Well freaking done! (that your drawing too?)

You know DIVYA, I am a great lover of cats and we have a tortoiseshell diva of a year old, who has the upper hand with Solo my grandson's dog who is currently residing with us. Your poem is such fun and I am reminded of just how fickle cats can be. One minute kissing and licking me, the next drawing blood with a quick as a flash swipe of talons. Really enjoyed this light hearted read and dear DIVYA, I wish you a very happy new year

A rare heart that watches out for the birds...really appreciated...
This is orgasmically delightful! I was in heaven, mentally & physically, this poem is so irresistible in the way it feels to read it, the way it sounds, & most of all the popping imagination in your message. I want this to be my New Year's Resolution. I want to think & live & feel like this poem makes me feel. It feels like I'm tiptoeing on the outer rings of Saturn, admiring all the hues that were never in my crayon box before. I love this. (I'm not even a cat lover . . . dogs rule!) I also loved your contribution to the annual collaboration (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
