The Wasted Youth

The Wasted Youth

A Poem by Tiffany Elise

We are the dead.
We are the outspoken.
We are the naive.
We are the broken.

We are the last,
we are the ones left standing,
we are in the middle,
we are worlds waging.

we break,
we breathe,
we shake,
we seize.

we are only children,
we aren't grown,
we get no love,
we stand alone.

we're just here,
we'll be accepted some day,
when we too are grown,
when their mistakes with us,
are being payed.

do you not understand?
we'll run this place.
not anywhere close to 'yet',
but it's an ever-growing race.

we run,
we climb,
we live,
we die.

and there we'll stand.
in charge of the future.
the new generation.
the ones who are considered naive.

we are hated,
we won't be like you,
we'll stand as you do,
as the wasted youth.
