No Heart Never Love(d)

It makes sense to just give up,

to throw away my chances,

to leave behind the pain.

But my heart begs me to follow

all those desperate old clichés:

No pain, no gain.”

“Follow your heart.”

What if I have no heart?

It’s entirely possible.

After all, I’ve never loved,

and never been loved.

Never give up.”

Okay.

I’ll pick up the pieces and start again.

Once again.

Maybe for the last time,

and maybe not.

Love yourself.”

Maybe that’s all I need.

wow this is a poem that is really realteable. it makes me think, what if all you really need is to love yourself? i pretty much fell in love with this, i love the whole idea of it. ontop of that, the the flow was really good, and it moved really easily. amazing job :)

i like this. it's like you transcribed an internal dialog. those voices we all have in our heads that argue with each other........ we DO all have those voices, don't we?

The biggest part of loving other's is loving one's self. You have done a compelling job of pointing out how hard it can be!
Great flow, and loved the structure.

An excellent piece! I love your formatting of the poem. The poem nicely sums up what an awful lot of us have thought over the years, wondering about whether to keep up or just fall out of the human race as it were. Once again a fantastic piece.

I like the point you brought up in the end, the one about loving one's self. It is true that in order to truly find love we must first learn to love ourselves. Good work!

Fantastic ^-^ Its kinda corny though, so it makes me smile (naturally!) it has been a refreshing change of pace. Frighteningly so, I don't have any bad comments on it. You were good, keep it up, I wish you well my dear!

Introspective with its internal batlle of why?/why not? Clichès are so, well -- clichè but, be they ever so annoying, there's always a truth to them. And the complete all encompassing simplicity of that last line just grabs and hold on tight. As tight as those emotions reins you're going to need as you climb back on tha horse again. Love this!

The last line is what hooked me. It leaves with a sense of uncertainty...maybe can mean yes, no, perhaps....but this I know...in all my years, it is easier to love others than to love oneself. Why that is, now thats the mystery....So I say, go on this journey of love, (what is love, anyways?) and discover yourself, love yourself, and laugh with yourself...

Youth is the sweetest wine. We waste moments and love and won't know it for many years. The heart is a dancer. If we allow it to run. We can end up empty. A outstanding poem. The poem ask the questions should we stay and hold on? I believe love and friendship is a rare gift. If we waste our youth. We will wish we did not as old men.
