Not Gaza Or Ukraine, But a Conflict Just as Insane

A Poem by Tomás Ó Cárthaigh
"

The West Philippine Sea conflict between China, Philippines and Vietnam has not many killed... yet. But it has the potential to be another Ukraine in time. We must put pressure on China to back off.

"

Not Gaza or Ukraine… but a conflict just as insane,
No one counts bodies of fishermen who are drowned
When warships prevent them fishing their own waters
Whose islands contested between two nations themselves have found.

These are working class people too…
Proletariat, struggling from day to day…
China is no great socialist liberating nation
When these fishermen from thei fishing fields are driven away.

Such greed, a greed for land, sea and power
It is hard for non generals and politicians to understand
As China tries to be Japan pre 1945
And up to America and the West as the strength of Asia to stand.

Filipino Soldier Not Gaza Or Ukraine, But a Conflict Just as Insane

A Philippine soldier stands guard next to fishing boats (back) at a pier in Masinloc town, Zambales province, 230 kilometres (140 miles) from Scarborough Shoal on May 18, 2012, the conflict, a cold war of sorts, is still ongoing today with China invading waters of the Phillipines and Vietnam

I was not aware of this issue happening, but am not surprised by it at all. Our media seems to think it is more important to cover celebrities and their escapades than any real news. I shall have to look into this more.
Meanwhile we seem to be more than happy to buy cheap Chinese products, causing our own producers to close manufacturing.
Well written.
