You and I

A poem about sad friendships and how some people will always stay in one place.

When we are old and years have set upon us,
There will come a time when the wind stills and time stops.
You will grow and blossom, petals flying where the wind blows,
I will be here, always here.
The rain will still fall, The clouds will still float, and Trees will still stand, for you,
You will have gone places I never could, and far beyond. 
I will be here, always here.
You will grow and change and move on,
Go wherever the rain and clouds and sun will take your soul,
I will be here, always here.

My friend you are better than I,
You are sturdy like the oak and soft like a reed.
You are bright like the sun and mysterious like the moon. 
You are brave like the lion and humble like the bear. 
My friend, you are better than I will ever be.

When our time beneath the rains and sun is through,
You shall be far beyond where I can reach, where I can dream. 
I will be here, always here. 
The rain turns to snow, The clouds to blue, and Trees tumble, 
You shall have grown and flown high above all the misery.

You have changed and shaped yourself,
Gone wherever your soul wished to fly, following rain, clouds, and sun.
I have been here, always here.
