Time,,,, if you will

Time,,,, if you will

A Poem by Trace
"

time is not cutting me any slack

"

Tell me if you will; how does time stand still

For I find myself on the sidelines watching

As, like a zephyr, it continues to blow right by

And I resemble a lonely participant in a vast audience

Hoping to catch a brief sliver as it seems to ignore my wishes.

Tell me if you will; how I missed that boat

For I find myself on the shoreline watching

As the sea keeps pulling the waves back to it

And I watch each one like an opportunity lost

Hoping to dip my toes in for a fleeting moment

Tell me if you will; where my life has gone

For I find myself reminiscing the many years passed

As the days grow short and the nights get longer

And I long for those glorious ways of my youth

Hoping dear Lord to just be able to remember them

Tell me if you will; how do we make time stand still

For I am not ready for Father Time to ring my bell

As I still have goals and dreams and wishes unfulfilled

And I pray that my mind will continue to think, to create

Hoping that my pen does not run dry before it’s time.

' For I find myself reminiscing the many years passed ~ As the days grow short and the nights get longer' .. . - even in the Summer.

If only we could re-hash time, fill it with more meaningful days;, add it to the hours we spent thinking about past and present when THAT day was what mattered most. Can only guess that if we were to have been given only a limited time, we would have still sat a while, wondering!.

Your words are strangely powerful tho also touched with sadness, regret or maybe, fatigue.

Tomorrow is truly another day, go find its magic

Often we regret more what we haven't done, than what we did......you have captured so well the aching reality of how we feel when we have missed opportunities........

The Father we all have issues with. Time...
Things become more urgent as the years pass.
The desire to do certain things before time runs out.
I really think we should be starting our bucket lists much sooner.

dear Trace... Time is of essence... "And when I grow too old to dream, I'll have you to remember... 🎼🎶💕". Beautiful waves of life and the sea that pulls us into shore only to return with the tide. truly, Pat

I've often wished we could rewind time, not to change anything, but to embrace what once used to be. You've penned this with the very fabric of all our lives, Trace, and it couldn't read more profoundly than it does!

It's good seeing you again...take care and don't be a stranger!

A deep and nostalgic write. Loved the second stanza. I think the poetic affliction calls for thoughts like that at a seashore. Enjoyed end to end.

We grow older and the calendar pages fly out the window even faster than they did when we were younger. We can not stop time, but we can make the most of every second we are given. Such a reflective write....and mature. (I mean that as a compliment!) "Hoping to dip my toes in for a fleeting moment" delicious line! Trace, so happy to read you again. Lydi**

Very good poem on reflection and meaning of time and life in general. Every human gives value to certain things. Time is golden to some and to others it is a waste. Some make use of it to their full advantage and potential, others just waste it. An excellent take...:)...................
