Fear

Fear

A Poem by Treo LeGigeo
"

Fear  [feer] –noun a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid.

"
I stand, the night closing around me,
I stare into the dark whirlpool of black,
I feel the cold wind lash at my skin,
I am afraid.

Nowhere to turn,
Nowhere to go,
Lost in the woods,
Stranded in a void of nothingness.

Rustling of leaves,
Silence.
Light footsteps,
Silence.

Frozen I stand,
My heart racing in my chest,
The silence like a thick blanket,
There is a tap on my shoulder.

I force myself to move,
I turn,
I see,

Scream!

I like this much.. the narrative is evocative and its content precise and pointed.. I feel as if I want it to continue and tell me what comes next.. a feeling which likely says good things about your poem..
