Chocolate

Chocolate

A Poem by Benjamin L. Weekly
"

By request

"

A silken whisper on my tongue
Breathes a word of soothing
It flitters and flutters
Full of fun
Away my worries are moving

A dreamy siren calls my name
The lullaby puts my aches to sleep
It spins and springs
A soothing song
Brings the rest of comfort deep

Waves of chocolate rush ashore
Wash my tastebuds afire
They blaze and they burn
A breezy brush
Makes my complaints a liar

The vivid imagery in this, along with the sensations called to mind by the title create for me a poem of feeling rather than something I can actually pinpoint why I liked it...but I do. It is almost like chocolate on the tongue...inexplicable.

"Waves of chocolate rush ashore" this image and the thoughts it brings is fantastic.

This is the first poem I've read about chocolate. I must say, I'm craving some right now.
Wonderful write. Reminds me of a Dove chocolate commercial.
