I Am The Twilight Dancer

I Am The Twilight Dancer

A Poem by Twilight Dancer
"

The title is the prelude ... to the answer.

"

I am The Twilight Dancer.

I wake each day to that time and space,

Between night and the dawn of a new day.

Venturing outside, I look up to the heavens

And say Good Morning to my Maker;

Only then can the dance begin.

Crickets, tree frogs, and cicadas provide the music.

Tanagers, wrens, cardinals, and blue birds sing the lyrics with their beautiful sweet song.

The ambiance is set by the fragrance of sweet honeysuckle and gardenia,

Lush green grass glistening with dew is the highly polished dance floor.

The soft, cool, gentle breeze fingers through my auburn tresses,

While caressing my face like cleansing, fresh water.

My mind begins to dance with words, thoughts, and senses;

And creativity becomes my partner.

The music reaches a crescendo,

My mind, soul, and spirit join as one;

As the sun begins to rise over the eastern horizon.

The last dance is called – a waltz;

And I dance more slowly, knowing the dénouement is near.

Not to be gone forever, just for the day;

I am The Twilight Dancer and will dance tomorrow’s morn.

You've caught well that time when all is peaceful and calm, the time when creativity flows. I fully enjoyed the read.

You are so in touch with yourself and nature. We are now in touch with you. We will see
our own lives more clearly and find more ways to relate to others as you have done. Your
words are so alive with joy that every reread of your poem will add to our ability to see what
you see. While good poetry does this for many, your poem does even more.

The beginning of a new day, whether you call it twilight or dawn...is the most beautiful time of day...especially in the summer. I love watching the sun rise. But the minutes before it breaks the horizon are the best. I used to go out to my patio where I had a porch swing and sit there and sip my morning coffee till the sun rose. You've painted a very bautiful picture of the sensations of the early part of a new day.

TD There is a place near the sunlight space on the NC Trail
Most days if it's bright,'tween the day and the night
The time of long shadows, momentairly prevail
And the spirits of creator and nature and soul, ignite.
Then the invisable stare into the earthly lair
And the magic of the Source is everywhere.
(Got your inspiration during reconstruction) Thankfully. TomG

It is good and well to cherish the day as the precious gift it is.
You put this beautifully. To be honest I'd never really given 'twilight' much thought until reading this piece. Thank you.

This is beautiful to read.. it has a softness about it and also a strong voice.. the Twilight Dancer seems to be a strong person.. the verses of the sounds of nature and the dance- the waltz bring lovely images to mind and serene sounds, sure is a nice poem.

Wonderful imagery! What a beautiful way to compare your spirit. You sound as if you are truly at peace with yourself and the world around you. I love the end note, too. It brings the idea into perspective. Even the font color was perfect. It should be written in blue--not stark black. Blue is so peaceful and whispy--much like your poem.

At one with earth and heaven. A child of the universe. Simply breathtakingly beautiful.
