I'm Sorry and I Love You

I'm Sorry and I Love You

A Poem by TwoDaysTooLate

It could've been perfect.
You were a blessing, and I know that now.
But you changed my opinion of you.
You taught me all I needed to know.
In my darkest hour, you save me.
You didn't know that.
I still dream about what we could have been.
How perfect it might have been.
So I regret letting you go.
and I love you,
and I'm sorry, but you are free.
And you can thrive.
And I was foolish to think that your happiness
came from me, not my looks or self.
Sometimes I wish you were mine but then
I remember your hungry desire,
And I remind myself why I let you go.
I'm sorry and I miss you.
But now I can sleep at night.
Because we let each other go for a reason,
because we couldn't be happy together.
We wanted different lives and different things.
I hope you are happy.
I hope you live your dreams.
I wish we could have made it work.
I'm sorry.
I love you.
