The Watcher

The Watcher

A Poem by Ellie Venice
"

It's about a girl and how she stalks this man. She figures out because she's lost something that everyone else has. Can you guess what it is?

"
Her gray eyes stared at me,
As if searching for my soul.
I felt her dig through me, to my heart,
then she stepped back and looked at me part for part.
She tore me limb from limb,
without a single touch.
She watched me with her careful eyes,
Never missing a thing.
Her seemingly unblinking eyes,
nearly impossible to meet.
For if you looked into her eyes,
all your secrets she would see.
Her eyes like a deep abyss,
One look and it's like you're lost at sea.
She didn't take a step,
she didn't catch a breath.
She stood there, unmoving,
like an animal getting ready to pounce on its prey.
She stared at me with her cold eyes,
reading me and waiting.
Waiting for me to make the wrong move,
and ruin her display.
I stood there in the parlor,
trying my best to deceive.
For when I was finished,
I hoped that gone, she would be.
But she was to good for me,
She waited patiently,
for one wrong move on my side,
to declare my oddity.
I wished away the beads of sweat and nervousness in me,
but her watchful eyes never strayed from me and never missed a beat.
She stood there, calculating my every move,
to see if I was a friend or her worst foe.
But she just stood there with those stony eyes of hers,
finding my deepest secret.
She figured out I didn't belong,
all without seeing.
Amazing how she knew,
when I was just like the rest.
I walked and talked the same,
hardly a difference.
She watched me day and night,
leaving me hoping she wouldn't tell,
for I was on a mission,
to save this home from Hell.
One day she disappeared,
her with all her sight.
For I never heard of her again,
about her and her dark, blind eyes.

This is really chilling and thought provoking. The mysterious vibe of this made me have a lot of questions while reading this. The woman seemed both threatening and lonely, made me feel a little creeped out by the "stalker" vibe, yet I felt pity for her as well for some reason I can't put my finger on.
Really, really well done here.

Why did you stop? This is really great and I love how you talk about "she" but we don't really know who she is. You should write more poetry!
