I remember

I remember

A Poem by Curtis.Lenker

I remember what it was like by your side
but you left me here along alone
picking up the pieces of my heart
trying to put it back together
is like an unsolvable jigsaw puzzle
a numbness takes over my body
my soul a graveyard of emotion
I remember when we were one
and nothing could separate us
now I am alone and dead again
drowning my pain in drugs and alcohol
if I could numb the pain would it hold back the rain
tears run down my face as I remember us
hiding alone is solitude dealing with the pain
with tears on my face and a razor in my hand
alone with the agony of defeat once again
we were supposed to be forever but you lied
I remember what is was like holding you
now your gone with nothing left
kissing your lips was the poison of my life
now all we have is memories painting
a vivid picture of our life together
how do I make the memories go away
or do they stay forever
I remember everything about us
even though I wish I could forget
