Candle Cove

Candle Cove

A Poem by Uncle Spook

Candle Cove.

(V-I)
Horace, Percy and Janice are waiting for you ‘long the dock…
Come with me, will you, aboard the laughingstock!?
Vermiculated smile -- A maw to swallow up the sea…
Voice like Ed Wynn -- Dead air on your TV!

I’ll take your skin!
You gonna f*****g cry about it!?
You -- Must -- Go -- In…

(Ch)
You have -- To go -- Inside!

(V-II)
Through Candle Cove, an anguished, marred place…
Constructed of cardboard and paper, rife with malaise.
Children’s tears filled our oceans, their fears painted our skies…
This is a place of timeless terror where all puppets go to die!

I’m the one who takes your f*****g skin and wears it as a hat…
My entire ensemble’s made of children’s scraps!

(Repeat CH)

(Bridge)
Calliope music accompanied by perpetual screams…
We are more than nightmares for we’ve devoured all your dreams!
Once you’ve visited Candle Cove, you can never go home…
We’ll make clothing from your flesh, and carve scrimshaw ’long your bones!

Skeletal moon grins above, ghoulishly a-glow…
Through waters heaving with the living dead we continually row.
On channel 58, at 4 o’clock PM…
I shall be here to tear away your skin!

Once you’ve come to Candle Cove you can never leave…
We’ll do things to you here that you could never even conceive!
The only way to escape this place is through suicide…
For Candle Cove is but a place you’ve created in your fucked up mind!
