Help Myself?

Help Myself?

A Poem by Barry Shelton

Verse 1:

A kiss upon the lips

a temporary medicine

before coming to grips

with sleeping in an empty bed

the feeling of touch

euphoria at it's finest

a drug all it's own

once it fades

you realize the difference between a house and a home

Chorus:

Everybody wants to get saved

but you came to the wrong place

The hell do you expect when I can't even help myself?

Everyone wants to be loved

a feeling so rare

I try to fill the void with touch

it's not even in the same vein

but for now it will do, yeah it'll do

Verse 2:

Indulging in chemicals

of all different kinds

whether from a bottle

or a lover's embrace

anything to cloud my mind

Do what it takes to chase

chase the pain way

That feeling

That false love

That real lust

It takes control of me

Bridge:

We make each other feel beautiful

but it's only for a night

Then awaken to reality

and an empty spot in your chest

I don't know what I want

I just don't f*****g know

I just hate the feeling of feeling so low

I am losing myself

and all the nights are running together

where do I go from here

where do I go?
