The Gutter

The Gutter

A Poem by Bryan

A poem, which connects the gutters along the side of streets to... well, life.

The water rushes
Sending the oil rainbow
The silver lining
Of the cloud of life
Into the drain
The endless pit
A world where thoughts
Cease to exist
This is the gutter of all imagination

I felt the flow and from and style of your piece works well to convey your meaning. This piece was really nicely brushed with imagery.

It brings back memories of being a child and standing on the street watching those rainbow hued rivulets of water run down the sidewalk and into the drains. I always thought it was pretty, even as I grew and came to understand that it was oil upon the surface, they still held beauty. I felt as if they represented mother nature cleaning the world and washing away the grim with it's own form of colorful love.

Great Ink! Thanks for sharing!

Hi, not quite sure which way to think about what this means - Imagination is draining away, or imagination runs through us all. either way (even if my idea of it is wrong XD) I really like this. Short and sweet. "The silver lining/Of the cloud of life" I love this bit :)
