"Coat Of Many Colors"

"Coat Of Many Colors"

A Poem by Valentine

    "Coat of Many Colors"

Color me blue, for all of the sadness inside;

Good enough to be a lover, but not to be a bride.

Color me purple, for the self degradation felt,

When life to me...this hand was dealt.

Color me red, for the anger I feel;

Knowing inside, your love was not real.

Color me black, for the agony and rage,

When you wrote me off, and tore up life's page.

Color me yellow, for the coward...I became;

Playing along with you in love's hurting game.

Color me white...for the stunned look on my face;

When pain and shock entered, filling this place.

Color me orange, peeled off...and left behind;

For the trash man...one day to find.

Color me green, for all of the envy and pride;

When all within me withered and died.

Color me black and blue, for the hurt inside;

Color me brown, while buried in the earth I hide.
Color me red and white...shock and angers hues;

Color me purple, for all old bruises from you.

Color me away...color each part gone;

Color away all the hurt...that lasted so long.

Muddy the colors...throw them upon the earth;

Befuddle all memory of when life came to birth.

Color me black...like the middle of night;

Completely cover me, until I am out...of sight.

Very nice use or words and thoughts. I enjoyed the flow of thoughts leading to the strong ending. We can be many colors. Life make us know joy, madness and sadness. Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

A very clever use of the word and how it runs throughout our lives. I like this, Kathie. Good write.

Colour really does colour our lives.
I like black. Not so much white. Wear yellow running tops, red or blue trainers.
I suppose at the beginning of life, we're all bright colours. As life goes on, that surely gets darker.

Each shade and tone shows the journey of life, the wanderings and reflections we go through at some stage or other, cleverly done Valentine :)

Exactly, every person one connects with in life leaves behind something. Thank you for your comment.. read more
You have made a wonderful use of colour analogies that we traditionally link to emotional and materialistic subjects.
You then create a new sensation in the penultimate stanza by "muddying" the colours into a confusion and a finality. A most imaginative piece , Kathie.
