"Before"

"Before"

A Poem by Valentine

             "Before"

Before these eyes in final rest
Do lay me down to sleep.
May God grant me the time
For final destinys...to keep.

Before all of my days are over,
When life's work is finally through;
May there be many long hours...
Spent in love and bliss with you.

Before time flies, on fleeting wings,
In its hurry...to lifes... end;
May this heart be full of your love,
Time and then time...again.

Before the dark grey mist rolls in,
Covering life, as it has been;
Let love have known complete bliss,
As this life... comes to its end.

Before seeing...the Master's face,
As He calls... all of His home;
Let your love...fill me so full,
That I will never... feel alone.

Before all of the teardrops... fall,
And warm dirt is piled...over me;
Look once again, with eyes of love,
May your face be the last thing I see.

After the angels... escort me Home,
Please think of me...now and then;
Know in your heart I loved you so,
Remember me...but...do find love again.

Now and then let me cross your memory,
Let your thoughts go back... to time spent with me...

And know..."I loved you."

The first two lines of the fourth verse are really brillant,they jumped out of my computer and pushed me off my chair,they deserve to go viral....A fine poem, well
written.

Yes, your plea and prayer is for more of life... given and shared.. love poured out in all the time we have to come. May we all find such hopeful prayers for our days.

As a poem there are stumbles and 'rough' places in the rhythm and flow... but the heart is all through it.

Wow. This piece is wonderful. I love how it starts with all the first words in an anaphora-like manner being "Before" and how it switches to "After" the third to last stanza. Structurally, the theme is developed internally. It amazes me how older people (since I'm still a youngster) incorporate such fluid motion in their poems and how even the smallest things flow beautifully. I love the thematic ephemeral ideas granting that time is so precious and that memories with others are so wonderful. The prose is even written beautifully; I'd having to thoroughly analyze this a lot more to even give some constructive critique (besides the overuse of ellipsis at the end). Kudos to you for a great write!

A dark but beautiful piece of writing .. sombre, sensitive, serious .. you can't do or feel more than that, Kathie .. (You)

this is so incredibly beautiful. I am left with a wistful smile on my face and a warm place in my heart. Enchanting and magical writing.

whistful and romantic, your words sail through the tides of a memory spend resting under soft moonlight, you have a talented way with words,
I find myself captivated.
