A Poem by Rhayne

to hide, to seek, to find

She sits inside a circle drawn on the shore

Watching daylight become the horizon’s line.

He offers her a drink, but of that she wants no more

He worries of her, though she says she is fine.

He stokes the fire, sending up cinders

Wondering what could be on her mind.

Two hearts broken and the truth from him hinders

She’s finding it harder and harder to be so kind.

How many lovers, she asks, for you are there now?

Only you, he answers, for you my heart is true.

Her saline eyes glisten beneath a cinched brow

She tells him how disloyal is his crew.

He knows no words for his defense to say

She no longer feels he’s by her side.

He knows the end is near, so come what may

Emotions, neither of them can hide.

With heart in hands he steps across the line

Begging forgiveness and a touch to prove.

She bids him, stop, you are not mine

Our hearts nor our bodies, no further can they move.

This is the end of you and me

As we stand here under the moon

Surrender to her and give me my key

If I never see you again, for me it’ll be too soon.

The anguish of parting comes through clearly after being found out.... a sad but familiar situation to many - thanks Rhyane for this poignant rhyme.

no problem, my pleasure..
This was so beautifully written, and, being someone who's been in the woman's shoes, it's entirely relateable. Your poems are wonderful, and you're such an amazing writer

I love to write. It clears my head of all the noise and sometimes, somehow it turns into something that makes sense. more..
