The fate of Psyche

The fate of Psyche

A Poem by varnika

Psyche, in the arms of her beloved,
Away from human follies,
in a state of ecstasy.

Psyche, devoted to love,
mother of bliss,
voice of the soul.

Psyche, the one who escaped mortality,
human indignity,
mortal misery.

Psyche, the link between heaven and earthly entities,
the wife of a deity,
the victim of Aphrodite's jealousy.

Psyche, the soul that wanders,
wanders in search of completion,
wanders in search of warmth.

Psyche, did she find completion
in the arms of her beloved?
Or did the mortal,
seek solace in the sweet-smelling incompleteness?

I often wonder,
if Eros's arrow hadn't pierced his own flesh,
would psyche find a lover in him?

Or would the poor mortal,
suffer the fate of Semele,
having provoked,
'An Olympian Beauty'?
