A personal history

A personal history

A Poem by Verin

Worn pages, creased and torn

Letters faded, retraced, and smudged

Old passages written over

Sad attempts to alter bold type

Water claimed some amount

With mildew finding its way in

Taking the warmth from words

Passion, love, roses, mr and mrs

Entombed by a blackening rot

Whole portions wandered away

Mice chewed the cover’s edges

An entire chapter makes a nest

The only comfort

Those sentiments ever gave
