Songs of the Darkest Hope

Songs of the Darkest Hope

A Poem by Sigyn

Songs of the Darkest Hope

There are many songs

Of compassion, love, and hope

And many of darkness

That cloud the open mind

Hidden in these, lie memories

Of the past of Hayden

He had not an inch of hope

He had nothing but darkness

This was the land of Hayden

He was lost in his memories

He was said to be out of his mind

Lost in the world of her songs

“I love her!” said Hayden

“What calls me is her songs!

“They are made of her memories!

“Not a breath of evil or darkness!”

And he fell for a false hope

Yet he didn’t mind

“Do you mind?”

She asked, her hatred of Hayden

Growing. She had lost all hope

Of trying to rid the boy. Her songs

Had drawn him to her. He was darkness.

She was light. She thought he had no love. Only hateful memories.

And so he was filled with more darkness

Horror and pain ripping his memories

And mind

Apart. And so Hayden

Threw away her songs.

That broke him with the sound of hope.

Are sometimes as hard to read as the mind

For now the songs

Of lost hope Have driven Hayden

Into Darkness

Songs are supposed to be of hope and love But Hayden only found darkness, corrupting the mind And these are the memories of the girl, who turned him down.

Author's Note

In a Sestina, there are six lines, six of the six lines. Each line endsin a differnt word, but the words have to be reused. My words were darkness, memories, minds, songs, hope, and Hayden. The last line is where all words at split into 3 lines.

A beautiful poem!

Actually 'knowing' Hayden, this is sad.
I like the poem, but the mood took over. That's a good thing, don't get me wrong.
And you really don't have to know Hayden to understand.

I'm a little insane for you. Maybe a bit too insane. I write about supernatural beings. Whether this is vampires and werewolves, or demons and angels, believe me. The word 'normality' has no afflitati.. more..
