Number One

Number One

A Poem by Violet Stone

Poem that I did when my dad died and it was read out at his funeral. Please read reviewers note :)

Number One

Daddy was a man that everyone knew,
He was loved, protected and given a good life too.

Always helped others as he had a warm heart,
But sometimes all we'd heard is the sound of his fart.

All his fishing gear would clutter the shed,
And the house would shake when he snored in his bed.

Remember happy times with him and stay strong,
because in our hearts - he will always belong.

He was a friend, a brother, an uncle, a husband and a son,

But to me and my siblings, he was our daddy and will always be our number one.

Author's Note

Violet Stone
This poem is dedicated to my daddy who died a little while ago and is truly missed. I wrote this poem for his funeral and I decided to post it on here to see what my fellow writer friends think of it. Thanks for reading and please leave me a review! :)

(Just a quick note - Sorry if any of the words in here (e.g. fart) seemed inappropriate. Its simply the truth of how my dad was no matter how vulgar)

This actually caused me tear up a little because I lost my dad when I was little, so I guess this kind of hit home for me. Good job! (And I liked the part about the fart LOL)

May his soul rest in peace
I love every part of this somewhat you made me feel as if I knew him too
I like how effortless you rhymed it and the true feeling that family is the most important thing ever
Well done
