a past from nowhere

a past from nowhere

A Poem by Danielle Asher

Past

Coming out of nowhere

A would be, could be stranger at a bar

A face on the computer screen

A call

A text

Sex

Drunkenness

All bordering on regret

Contemplating the thoughts then

Who I was then

The question of what I was looking for

Maybe not looking at all

Possibly the problem was looking

Latching

Conforming

Not saying no

Not saying yes

Going along for what could be

Turning my eye

My mind

My heart

To what was right in front of my face

They are still out there

Wandering

Never changing

Always coming back to drink from the same cup

Hoping to find me

I was a wanderer once floating on the fickle breeze. Sometimes, I still find myself adrift. WOnderful words.

imagery seems is of
whatever we do
is to be careless

but when the reckless
can be the most funness
but what regret

voluntary rape can be
Going along for
what could be

this is wonderful
cause my mind to
wander in the imagery
