dear someone

dear someone

A Poem by Danielle Asher

day twenty-one, in the fifth month, in the year two thousand ten

Dear Someone,

I have to admit, that seeing the film “Letters to Juliet” on your birthday was not only ironic, but arduous. I did not pick up on the matter until I learned the plot of the movie. The main themes: Lost love, timing, destiny, true love is always true, never too late or too old, the knowing that comes from looking into “the” person’s eyes, and lastly fighting all odds for “something.” Every now and again I have little setbacks, though we are in another place that we have both agreed to.  Sometimes, the twinge of doubt that I push down jars me. It shakes me into the fear that comes with the lack of access to your heart. I fear that I will no longer be the last pair of eyes you call for. I know that like time, this feeling will pass by again, and I will be thankful for what we maintain.

There is a part in the film where they speak of the words “what” and “if” and how separately they have quite a different impact then when combined.

“What if?” The phrase is like dynamite waiting to blast.

I choose to focus on being your friend rather than the nonsense of what is written above. Because it is nonsense now isn’t it?

Love,

A woman who used to refer to herself as your Juliet

Great job!

Interesting! Okay I've sat here for minutes thinking about this poem and I must say, I'm at a lost for words. Not that is a bad thing, it's just it speaks to me now as I use to think of myself as some one's Romeo, someone's Knight, "If" not for the what if's in our relationship or lack of.
