Roaches Are Fairies

Roaches Are Fairies

A Poem by Violetta Alexis

Roaches are fairies...

"Roaches Are Fairies"

There's black on the walls,
shackled, cracked windows by bars.
I blend into the dark,
Collapsing in like a dying star.

He always changed the locks
When I have tried to leave
Does he need all these souls,
When his neck wears the key?

You can't hear your heartbeat,
when your own mind has failed
There's nothing more to see,
when your eyes are in your nails.

I've kept a roach hostage;
Nailed him wings from canaries,
Buried him from flying
And called it a garden of fairies

He's given me daisies
In a bouquet of crazy
And told me they're roses again

He has told me they're roses again.

I love the way this flows and I love how you repeated the last line. It really gets me. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

This is lovely, really. I love the vibe of this, and you do a great job of setting the breaks up, giving good pauses to accent the feeling or phrasing. Everything rolls of the tougne smoothly, a nice steady flow. Well done. :D
