Masochistic Poet

Masochistic Poet

A Poem by Samantha ~virginpoet

To be a poet
you taste like love
and sorrow crying ink
a dark dying meaning
fading slowly
within

Cause I dream
of a man who has
read my every poem
and hoarded every meaning
deeper into his being

But my love he
devoured my heart
in one s l o w
satisfying gulp

I heard it p l u n g e
into the gaping
emptiness of his
cheating
heart

But I’m just a poet dreaming
of shoving a pen down my throat
and writing these verses inside out

I am no scribe
prophet or spell caster

I know it

My skin knows it

My pen knows it too

Years and years from now
my mind will dwell
on the way your fingers
chain linked between my ribs
and shook my vulnerable insides violently

As you ripped me apart

But to be a writer
is to be a masochist
and I refuse to get off
on the pain anymore

To be a poet you have to write about what you know and feel. Suffering and joy are equal parts of the same. I've recently gotten into poetry quite a bit actually I've realized one thing and that is you learn more from sorrow than joy. One cannot exsist without the other. To be a poet you must understand your own emotions so that they are written better. You are one of two writers that I look forward to reading every time i see one of your poems. I'm in awe of you as a writer and the way that you construct your poems. Your one of two poets that I'll read. Not to say that your better than the rest here for I'm sure there are also many good writers on here as well. Sorry for going on like that. Well done

You had me at the title, this piece just reminds me of how it would feel if I was forbidden to write. Its a great thing to write and express and I like how you deconstructed what it is to be a writer.

A warrior isn't created with easy times. Anything worth while takes energy, work, and suffering. A marriage isn't all sweet laughter. It gets down and dirty and you learn to communicate. Pain is in childbirth and the hope that your child will be healthy. Pain in life is part of growing, learning, and recovering.
It was a very touching poem. Thank you for sharing.
