Dear Confidant.

Dear Confidant.

A Poem by Amadi Judith

Beautiful butterfly.

Charming, my alibi.

Catching the daffodils in arms.

Looking an object of heavens art.

I did not know she was waiting for me.

I longed for a friend and a sister to be.

Everything that I dreamed. An illusion.

Of the life lived in the past.A vision.

She was right before me, as I watched and learnt.

The symphony of the dying year in my ears.

As I look at the red lips of the rose.

Frozen yet alluring before my eyes. Then I chose

I leave them to be caressed by the lips of one man.

And not the one that grew in this woman.

Author's Note

Amadi Judith
It tells of two women. An ode from one to the other but in the end a realisation and conclusion. Was formerly 'me' at the end before but for poetic reasons and for the rhyme changed to 'this woman.' Enjoy the poem.

A piece of thought provoking complexity. It makes me wonder numerous possibilties arise. Is the "me" excited to receive her new friend but then finds there is no room for her? Does she become jealous of her new sister's love for another, or for the man's love for her frienf/sister? So many different perceptiion make this an intriguing enigma. Well done.
