Winter Wonderland Courtyard

Winter Wonderland Courtyard

A Poem by The StoryTeller
"

Just a poem I wrote as I looked at my school's senior outdoor lunch courtyard today. It was early morning, like around 8:00 A.M.

"
The sun crest and peaks over the edge of the roof,
Illuminating the enchanted courtyard.

Cute little benches,
With little tufts of downy snow.

White - green leaves on the petite overhanging trees,
Thin, spiraling, reedy branches with no connection to any true trunk.

A fountain usually full of sparkling, clear, luminous water,
Is now full of angelic clouds of cold.

A long icicle dangles off of the edge of the low - hanging roof,
Smooth and yet bumpy lit up with the sun's fire, narrowing to a point.

Oh, how beautiful this courtyard is in Winter,
Just after a new fallen snow untouched by humanity.

Oh, how beautiful this courtyard is in Winter,
Full of white powder and early morning sun and chirping birds.

Oh, how beautiful this courtyard is in Winter,
An enchanting Winter Wonderland.

What I think.. is it paints a really beautiful winter wonderland as you suggester. I first thought it was in reference to the christmas song, but then this was a different journey altogether.. great work.. I liked how you picked out select elements to emphasize the beauty of the setting. it brought the entire piece together.. cheers

It is absolutely gorgeous: the layers building, the vivid picture I saw, slowly creeping up as I see that bench; I don't wish anyone to touch it. It became a lovely symbol like a statue to be admired. Thank you. Dale

I really like the imagery in this poem! It put a beautiful picture in my mind. And I kind of have a thing for untouched snow...
