Voices of the World

Voices of the World

A Poem by Voice
"

This poem is about the evils in the world and how we are enabling them. I hope it inspires people to stand up to injustice and to fight for the causes they believe in with all their heart

"

Voices of the World

Where is the world going
With its pain and suffering
Endless hatred and distrust
Only victims shed a tear

Children growing up in a world of war
Not knowing love
Only feeling fear
Parents come home in a wooden box

People on the street
Some not knowing where they are
No food, no clothes
In the world they are alone

Woman and girls are bought and sold
Just an object not a life
Used for only one purpose and then are thrown away
Hundreds of them killed each and every day

Drugs and guns on the street
Gangs leaving their tags on parks
Broken booze bottles, used needles
Is anywhere safe

The monsters came from the home to the street
Learning from generations before them
How to hate, how to kill and not care
The wolf is only satisfied when blood spills

How many innocent lives will be destroyed
Before everything is lost
Is all we think we’ll gain
Really worth the cost

In a world where children have less rights than dogs
Their molesters walk free
Just a slap on the hand
And out to rape again

Victims and survivors barely get their 15 minutes
The purp is the one with the media attention
Crime percentages rise higher
We need an intervention

As time is going by
We’re quickly getting worse
Living each and every day
Like we are stuck inside a curse

Bombs are going off
Plains are crashing into towers
Never forgiving and forgetting
People will always want revenge

Fights and riots breaking out
In the schools and on the streets
Unseen battles only some can comprehend
Broken bodies and hearts nothing can ever mend

Dreams are considered nothing but imaginary
No one even tries to make them a reality
Giving up to fast
Before they give themselves a chance

It rattles people’s brains
It can make you go insane
The question why is an old one
And it’s one that can’t ever be answered

Something’s got to give
Is the balance between good and evil really equal
Maybe it depends on what side you see
Or maybe tides are turning

People keeping up their guard
Not letting anybody in
With the evil that we see
We’re questioning if good can ever win

Why is everything being torn apart
Houses falling in
Bridges collapsing
Too much devastation to count

Does anyone or anything
Really even matter
Come on people get with it
Step up to the ladder

Men beating on their wives
Wives murdering their kids
What ever happened
To make the world like this

Teens are following in their parents footsteps
Learning how to hit
Learning how to yell
They don’t go to church they’re already living in a hell

The news can’t depict it clear enough
They only pick the stories that they think are good enough
The rest collect dust on a shelf
Forgotten by the world

People need your help
Will you just look away
Go ahead, keep on telling yourself
That they can wait another day

Me I’m just the writer
I am just the voice
And I am here to tell you
That we all have a choice

If each one of us would take the time to act, and not just talk, to believe and really show to others what we believe in a way that "others" will understand and notice, then we will make a dent in this sea of "uncaring" attitude that seems to prevail in our culture today.
Yes, there are those who care, many of those who care, but voices get snuffed out by the loud cries of bureacracy, pay-offs, greed, lust for power, cowardness, and pride that brings down mankind, rather than build it up with true love and concern.
This is an excellent write. I applaud you for your compassion!!

Great write, we all have a voice, we need to spread it around. The problems didn't start overnight. Kids are left by themselves all the time, playing violent video games. The parents don't face up to their responsibility.

Beautiful. No not even that it's more like perfect. We are here in this world for some reason, not just to sit here and watch, but to stand up for what's right. :)

An excellent piece of writing. Mankind, I think, has grown calloused and cynical towards love. People love pizza, they love their new cars...they forget the meaning of love. St. John said that, "God is love." Think for a moment if instead of folks saying, " I love you" they said, "I feel God in my heart for you"...it would be so much easier to point out the liars....everyone who wanted something in return for their love for example could be thrown on the emotional garbage heap. We need to take the advice of Thoreau and "simplify" our thinking...we have too much inflow of information without time enough for compassion and sober judgment. But love is like wisdom; it is a thing justified by its own children. Great write.
