A Long Day

A Long Day

A Poem by Victor Warui
"

The start and the end, are alike. Difference being details, efficiency and laziness ro the later.

"
The church bells chimes aloud
Nearly quieting the bird's sound
Tweeting warmth to my cold room
Since the fire hearth died to gloom
Heating water for a bath took time
Being tardy to the coffee shop's a crime

You'll brave offensive folks in the queue
Only bright side is the fat-cheeked
Maid who lights the smile fireworks
All over her round face like dreamWorks
Am ever blown away to the stars

Taxi driver of an old Volkswagen car
Invites me showing teeth brown on tar
While smoking tobacco from his pipe
'Fastest ride to post office' fuels the hype

My overdue bills needs settling
Check new letters, while too sending
Mails to keep in touch with pals.
After hours I left fast, quickening pulse
Hoping for my blown-toothed driver,
A self driving cab asks my destination
When did cars jilt drivers for GPRS?

Not to be shocked, a notification rings
Old friend Tom has a party after dusk
Too bad to pass, I lost my Halloween mask.
Wait so many likes and a thousand interested

A message pops up, alert to pay my bills
Most important of all, my data plan bill.
The air conditioner is literally burdening
And that coffee maker, where were they?
A cup will suffice as I ponder the changes.
Before going to some DJ Tom party.

I lived, saw, used and now
my thousand and fifth tweet has
Seven hundred likes, but before I go,
A nice selfie with my twerking cat,
Might, might just go viral peeps!

Ah, a day in the life of our technological age. Fast moving and honest with lots of good imagery. I enjoyed the read. Lydi*
