The Singing Stars

The Singing Stars

A Poem by Ian Faraway

The argent glow of the stars
Fills my body with a sense of languor
As if singing to me from the heavens
Singing me a sweet sounding lullaby
All the anger and hate that filled my soul
Melts away, leaving me in an ocean
Of blissful pacifism
The calming waters deafen me
Helping me ignore those around me
Saying those words that are sharper
Than a spear in the heart
Comparing me
A gentle, confused soul
To that of a chimera
A hideous creature
An outcast that deserves
No love and no place with friends
So I will look to the heavens
And bathe in its lullaby
As it rocks me back and forth
Into a most beautiful dream
Where I dream of gazing
Upon the very stars
That put me in a most
Wonderful slumber
