Let Go

Let Go

A Poem by Ian Faraway
"

Is there still something left?

"

It kills me to admit

But I know what must be done

The truth

Was always hard for me to face

It’s necessary

No matter how great the pain

Reality will become every man’s downfall

What I must do now…

Is let go

Saying is easier than doing

And I find myself in an unreal world of pain

Heartache

Is this how it feels to love and feel its’ pain

A new sensation

I have never felt this kind of ache

So alive

But so dead

There’s no way to let go

Hold me

Save me

Before I waste my life

Drunk on misery

High on pain

Pain that wrapped itself around me

When all I felt was the cold hand of the world

The hand that made me hard as a rock

The hand that won’t let me let go

See through my lies

Melt away by cold defenses

No matter how painful, just do it

For in the center, lays a dimming spark of light

A piece of me that still remains

A piece of what use to be a whole

Now, it’s a reminder of what was

But if you save what’s left of me

Maybe I’ll finally be able to let go

It is said that confession is good for the soul and a freeing experience. Letting go, thereby, is letting free!

I like almost all of it with the exception of this one line.
"Pain that wrapped its warm blanket around me"
It doesn't say true to the rest of the poem. This poem is full of coldness and bitterness, then a warm blanket appears. Other than that, it's a great poem.

I really like this Dakota. You have described how I have so far in alot of aspects in my life. You have something so heart wrenching happen to you and you finally go so deep into it you realize that you have nowhere to go but forward. Very well written.

I think both are appropriate, Solidad.... writing tragedy is both a curse and a gift... it takes you to a new realm that seldom people understand.... that the gift part, the curse part is that world is just effed up

Seems as though your creativity is anchored in tragedy. I'm unsure if I should congratulate you or pity you. Either way you've tapped into something worth eloquently documenting. J'adore.

This describes how i felt exactly a year ago. Letting go of the familiar is painful, but courage is the power to let go of the familiar. great job!
