The chance at fame

The chance at fame

A Poem by Wannabewriter16
"

My song/poem about failing at my one chance ro be on Disney as a teen.

"
I had one shot, a single opportunity
To seize everything I ever wanted
One moment why did I let it slip
palms were clammy, knees weak, heart pounding
I was nervous, but on the surface I tried to look calm and ready
To give my lines, but I kept on forgettin'
What I wrote down, the whole rooms spinning
I tried to open my mouth, but the words couldn't come out
I was frozen, how, everybody's laughing now
The chance has run out, times up, over, next!
Snap back to the tears, there goes gravity dragging them down my face
Oh, there goes my future, its blown
Im so mad, but I won't give up that easy!No
I won't have it, I know the whole towns back roads
It don't matter,
Im great, I know that, but I froze
I better go capture this moment and hope it don't pass me
Cause I gotta lose myself in the lines, the moment
I own it, I will never let it go
I only get one shot, I will not miss my chance to shine
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime
I will lose myself in the lines, the moment
I own it, I will never let it go
I only get one shot, I will not miss my chance to shine
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime I will
My souls escaping, through this heart
This chance is mine for the taking
I wannabe Queen, as we move toward a, new show
A normal life is boring, but super stardom's what I want
It only grows harder, only grows hotter from the haters
It blows us all over, these lines are all on me, I'm known as the freezer
Lonely back roads, God only knows
Ive grown farther from everyone, Im no daughter
I go home and barely know my own father
Im holding my nose 'cause here goes the cold truth
My dad don't want me around anymore, Im a sinner to him
He moved on to the church who he chose over me
I nose dove and made it
So my story is told and unfolds before you
I suppose it's old news, but the lines go
Im scared but its ok,no,wait its not
I better lose myself in the lines, the moment
I own it, I will never let it go
I only get one shot, I will not miss my chance to shine
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime
I better lose myself in the lines, the moment
I own it, I will never let it go
I only get one shot, I will not miss my chance to shine
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime I better
No more games I will shine next time

your "poem" part reads more like prose to me...as i read it i wondered why you call it song also and then ...there it was ...with its own tempo and rhyme ;) there is a lot that is trying to be said in this .. bringing in the father and church for me might be a whole other story .. added to the main theme of one chance and how we all blow things ..get stage fright ..want to disappear on those back roads ..the insertion of father and church weaken the theme in my mind ;) the dilemma of those so awkward youthful years is brought to the forefront of my memories ... i can't tell you enough how many times i have said...i would never go back to my youth ..it is filled with uncertainty, fear, and sweating arm pits ...but there is also courage, trust and faith that the years bring out in us and give us some peace ... which brings me to all the optimism in your song .. well done says i ... and again the form is very unique .. have not read a poem (or prose) /song before
