Lover's Dialogue

Lover's Dialogue

A Stage Play by Warren L.G De Mills
"

An opera song between two despairing lovers

"

Girl:

Such melancholy, you sob so heavily.

Boy my heart was yours but you gave

It to the wolves who were prowling since

Before I ever met you . I swear

I never loved a soul other than you but

You.....died, or at least the you i thought

I knew, The you that would hold me and

Teach me and tell me all the things that

My loving heart needed to hear. Boy

I was your dear I would cling to every

Word I would hang on every moment

I would hold to every promise but you

, you could not see it and you mistrusted

Me, you were disgusted by a habit, maybe two.

And now my heart has left you so at night

I hope my voice resembles the rain drops

Cuz it's all that you'll hear from me, the cloud

That will rain upon you thundering regrets.

Boy:

Love, What a heavy word to use

For something that seems to always

Dissipate with time and the laws of

Diminishing returns applies. The more

I give in, the more i would cling, the more

My soul would yearn to shower you with

All that my filthy rags could afford. The more

You pull away, the less you would notice my

Efforts to perfect every mistake, that i made.

And I could have stayed in that position

And served to complete the mission but I could see

You did not care that I had seen things about you

That were more than just displeasing , unappealing

But rather they were deceiving me to believe

You were the one for me. This cloud of regret

, it floats over my head and I swear I thought I heard

Your voice in the rain for every night that I cried because

You wouldn't talk to me you rather be with somebody else

. After all that I have done, girl this time my heart is gone

I'll jump over the hole next time i decide to fall in love with

Someone.

Together:

Is this what we've grown to be?

This was not by design but by the flaws

Of our own ways I think I want to fix it

But do you? I still remember those nights.....

Girl:

You would tell me those stories till

We fell asleep on each other

Boy:

You would cling to every word

I was your friend, I was your lover

Girl:

I would cry from your eyes with

Every word , we were birds of a feather

Boy:

I had taken your hand, I proposed

I promised you love from one moon

To another

Girl:

Is this really the end of it all?

I don't know if i meant it all

When I said this was over

Boy:

Is this it? I've said many things

But this was never my intent . To

Betray the one I love, to insult

The promise of love and integrity of

Commitment. Girl I'll be back for

You but for now I think we just need

Some space to breathe. A little time to

Gather ourselves and to come to the

Right conclusions.

Girl:

I think this was wrong....How could I

Throw away all that we've been through

And all that we've made. Maybe I was

Wrong to forget all that you've done

Together:

maybe we were wrong

maybe we should fix this

The clouds were just passing

now the rain subsides and

our voices intertwine with

harmonies and melodies

the peaceful tone of jubilee

finds its way back to us

The future is uncertain

and the past is gone

But now is forever

and its best spent with someone

like you

These dialogues are beautifully written and shows the truth and the confusion of emotions felt by the characters. You've done an amazing job!!

Certainly something for the stage as lovers speak as if in soliloquy. To inquire of yourself while you are also telling yourself what it is. Nice!

Stunning. hmmm.. the dialogue is wondeful in my opinion. You tell the story well with just the 2 characters talking.. it shows the pain of love on both sides. I loved it. It's a great write!

Oh my. This is very... Just wow. I'd like to be constructive but as a piece of art this was flawless! It's the first romantic piece I think I've read a guy write that actually got to me. I don't know much about opera, let alone the dialogue, but this sounds beautiful just reading it! Great job!

This is my very first read of yours and I must say you tugged at my heart strings with this one. I felt it. I have lived it, breathed and survived it. You penned it all very well and I enjoyed it a lot.
