In The Twilight Hour

In The Twilight Hour

A Poem by Warren L.G De Mills
"

April 30 Day Poetry Challenge Day 2 poem

"

A shadow swallows shadows

Sneaking into secret chambers

Devouring children at night

Then comforts mother's grief

Like blood staining blood

A treason beyond reason

Suspicions dare to flair

And accusations go in vain

Like death devours death

Sorrow kisses guilt

To father innocence

In treacherous beds

Silence shouts to silence

Begging for the voice of void

To surrender to eerie whispers

Whimpering in the wind

Darkness descends on darkness

To keep the light at bay

Cold shadows slither on walls

And consume the moon

Twilight hours summon ghosts

And images in the corners

They come at me at night

And force my hand to write...

Great mysterious poem about ghosts and shadows, sounds not horrible at all, even slightly romantic..I loved this expression :
Silence shouts to silence
Begging for the voice of void
I like it!

This is wonderful! Going into my library to revisit, and truly digest.

Haunting and genius!
I love how you used contradictory statements and repetition in the lines.. it really adds to the effect of the piece.
"Twilight hours summon ghosts
And images in the corners
They come at me at night
And force my hand to write..."
This is perfect ,and so so true.. Night seems to haunt me, and that is when I write. Good exploration of inspiration.

Neva thought this was good...so I had to check it out. :D
Inspired by the darkness that surrounds your void. It is brilliantly wicked and cunning. The word choice is smooth and catchy. The imagery you paint is lucid black. Beautifully done.

Something wicked this way comes! This is brilliant.......I love the way you were rhyming right and left and then boldly stepped into prose. Bravo for doing your own thing.........
