I love my dad

I love my dad

A Poem by Dan Massett

A letter that I hope I will one day send

Dear Dad,

Consider this,

Everything that I’ve always wanted to say

On those sunny days on the golf course

Or those winter nights, house cold as hell

Sitting on the couch, watching “The Godfather”

Consider it

A testament

A promise to be something you always wanted

Simply a good man

Consider it

Everything that I’ve always wanted to say

But have been too afraid to

But I hope I’ll be able to say

Consider this

What I’d say

If I had the courage

“Though I am taller than you now

I will always feel smaller,

You are my father

And will always be my better,

For the greater cannot come from the lesser,

And I am no exception.”

Your Son
