Last Wish

Last Wish

A Poem by WatcherInSilence
"

And as he turned his back to the world, he bid farewell to his one good memory of it

"

Take my bleeding pen

And mark the screams of my tortured soul

In an open letter that shall always glow

Deep inside an ocean’s flow

Look not into my eyes

As crying rivers storm endlessly

Through the valley of a broken heart

Languishing in a pit of demise

Yesterday is another lifetime

Like young flames we burned so brightly

We lit up our world and everything around it

But now I cry tears

To the sad wings of destiny

Gracing my skin, reviving your touch

Once so vivid, now empty of life

In my remains I ponder in the dark

What could have been, the twist of fate

But life often yields more than an outcome

To a tale of hearts, destined for the books

Free yourself from my cage of emptiness

And wash away the scars of my desires

Look into the world through your eyes

And you will seek it like I sought you

Bathe in a sea of content

As life is anything but understood

And while I lay down my glass of contempt

I bid farewell to a maiden

A dove that flew away without looking back

Closing the gates of an empty fort

My walls slowly crackle

They crumble and fall

And as I disappear into the night

Remember the times you poured into my heart

Carved words that shall forever remain

Simply solemnly breath taking. Your description of that feeling, that moment and experience captures the reader. It took me there. Good job!

Divya...

Thank you for shedding a pertinent eye on what is one of the more important topics in life...Love touches everyone and sometimes it proves to be stronger than walls (or forts in reference to my writing).
it bends souls without ever breaking them so that we can build ourselves back up and restore our walls...

Thank you again my friend for your wise and kind review! It was a pleasure reading it!

This poem reminds me how strong and potent are the ties of love. We pine away for them. This poem is very touching and my favorite lines are...

"And while I lay down my glass of contempt
I bid farewell to a maiden
A dove that flew away without looking back
Closing the gates of an empty fort"

As a friend I hope that some day that fortress is restored again. Meanwhile, please accept my compliments on a superb write!
