She's soft

She's soft

A Poem by Abigail Lee

She’s soft and blue

Lips open in a breathless gasp

Eyes wide in chill and fright.

But she’s alright now.

Lulled into deep slumber

By the endless, crashing tide.

She didn’t wish it

Not really

She didn’t want it

Not in the least

But she always took what she could get

And she could definitely

Get dead.

The imagery is astonishing. Dark and dreary but deeply peaceful. Wonderful job.
