My Thoughts Won't Let Me Sleep

My Thoughts Won't Let Me Sleep

A Poem by Nina Burke

Haven't had a dream in a long time
Haven't been able to sleep

Let the faucets run
So I can desperately weep

Flooding the floor
Passionate tears breaking down the doors

Watching everything deteriorate into a sea of sorrow
I hold my breath and sink below

The ones I love are by the shore
Radiating light to glisten my waters
I still continue to sink farther

I'm running out of time
I'm trying to stay out of my mind

My thoughts they sink me down
My mind it spends me around

The night will come
And my love ones will go home

Ill swim up when the shore is empty
When there is no one to show me pity

I live my life in darkness
But this has got to die down

My thoughts won't let me sleep
But I have to lye down

"My mind it spends me around "

Did you do that on purpose or did you mean "spin"?

Also... "lye" should be 'lie'. Unless you meant potassium hydroxide (soap).
