Beyond Compare

Beyond Compare

A Poem by WillaDanvers

This is on the other side of Forever Yours - an older poem of mine, viewable on my profile :)

I want you to know the truth,

However painful it may be,

And I don’t doubt that you will feel,

Something other than the love we share,

Love is a funny thing,

A combination of fear and appreciation,

Desire and hatred together,

Positive and negative to be as one,

But this thing I have to tell you,

Will split those in two,

Desire and hatred standing alone,

Negativity will be the one to rule,

Before I open my mouth,

And destroy this happy we have,

Just know that I love you,

Beyond all things you may know,

It wasn’t your fault,

This deed I have done,

Was not by any fault of yours,

But by dying breath of my mind,

I struggled for a long time,

I wanted to survive for you,

But eventually it wasn’t enough,

For the devil just hated me that much,

And so you will stand there on that day,

Looking towards that sky,

Feeling the painful tugging of tears,

And wishing I was once alive again,

And even though this is a painful truth,

It is only one part of who I was,

The other part now belongs to you,

The lover, who held your hand,

She may no longer exist,

Not in any scientific terms,

But if you open your heart a little,

You can see my love still hangs around,

I won’t bother you anymore,

You have a life to live,

Before I leave you for end all time,

Remember that I love you beyond compare.
