Sweet Freedom

Sweet Freedom

A Poem by WillaDanvers
"

Sometimes you don't see the truth till your standing a while away with fresh eyes. This is my truth.

"

You never complimented me,

Or told me that you missed me,

And I knew that it was coming,

But I still feel like something is gone,

I don’t crave the way you smell, or sound,

More the fact of having someone around,

But even when embraced in your hold,

I didn’t feel like you ever truly loved me deeply,

I was just a convenient figure in your life,

There for the time being and warmth,

Till you decided you’d had enough,

And turned to walk the other way,

But I saw it coming from far away,

And breathed a sigh of relief when I too,

Could turn around and see the shore,

Walk my own pathway, holding my own hand,

Loving myself in a way that you never could,

Believing that I am beautiful, and loving,

In a way that I never did before,

Because I fell for the silence from your lips,

You never complimented me,

And I fell for the way you didn’t love me,

But now walking away somewhere new,

I am a butterfly, sweet with freedom.

I don't hate him, but I don't miss him either. I'm a better person without him, and I'm all the better for having loved him.
