Thank you (a Led Zeppelin poem)

Thank you (a Led Zeppelin poem)

A Poem by willweb

~

“And if the sun refused to shine”

Music finds my sleep and calls

from a bedside table,

slits of light through the slatted blinds

create mini horizons on the wall

Time has caught me once again

as Led Zeppelin reminds me

“I would still be loving you”

For the morning throws me back to reality,

the longing in my heart which faded

beneath the moon has returned

to view this bed of only one figure,

reaching out for what was

“When mountains crumble to the sea”

Finding the rocky coastline depicts the feeling

in my heart, as I stumble

Tear filled eyes a constant,

empty arms waving freely in the air

to the haunting rhythm

of a plastic clock radio

“There will still be you and me”

If only music were truth, and truth was a melody,

easily sung regardless of tempo or flow

Key changes finding a bridge

of lonely footprints that take me to your memory,

remembering the good, remembering the days,

and forcing a smile, for each day I whisper

“Thank you”

~

Music can be so inspiring and this is a beautiful song.
Your poetic verses complement these lyrics so beautifully.

Thank you, Ciara. I appreciate your nice comment. You are right, music is definitely inspiring.
The "mini horizons of light" are probably the only reason we aren't blind; the music plays to effect an infant's cradle or an astronaut/diver's bubble helmet that carry us over bridges of hope and sanity!

Exactly, I knew you would get it. : )
I love Led Zeppelin's music and you did a splendid job creating a poem around his melody and words...
It's a poem of loss, of dreaming, of reality and the emotions that loss impedes on us...the return of loneliness ...."reaching out for what was.."remembering the good...and forcing a smile"
Nicely written

So touching beyond words. I have not heard this song but your words are enough to take me there. This is such a beautiful poem.

Thank you so very much my friend.
It's nothing short of extraordinary what you've done here, Will. "Thank You" is a Zeppelin classic, and as haunting as Robert's voice is in its performance, you've managed to magnify the enormity he delivers with your own interpretation of each verse. Pretty mind blowing, I think. { I've done this kind of presentation with the Lord's Prayer, but I can't remember if I've posted it here or not.} Perhaps I'll have to look into that...thank you for the incentive!

High five, my friend. This is a keeper!

Led Zeppelin is so amazing. His music still alive and well for many years. I liked the set-up of the poetry leading to the good ending. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry Will.
